Food Fetish Friday: Featured Foodie 9/7/2012

Food Fetish Friday

The Food Fetish Friday series has featured food from over 250 unique bloggers in the past 9 months. Without these bloggers' hard work and dedication to outstanding food, Food Fetish Friday couldn't exist. So I have devoted a new section of Food Fetish Fridays to the bloggers to make this series possible and it's called Featured Foodies.

Featured Foodie posts are a chance for us all to meet the real people behind the food. Every Friday, I select and interview an amazing foodie who has been previously featured in the Food Fetish Friday series. We'll discover what makes these foodies tick, where they find their food inspiration, and gain valuable insight from their experiences. And of course, we'll drool over their food!

Please welcome this week's Featured Foodie!

Q&A with Javelin Warrior

JW: When did you start blogging? And why?
Carrie: I started blogging when I was pregnant with my 3rd child. I was a big fan of blogs, and was an avid blog reader. I finally just bit the bullet and started one. I was cooped up in the house so much that summer and needed a creative outlet!
JW: How - or where - do you find inspiration for your food creations?
Carrie: Other blogs! I get so many great ideas from my blogging friends. They amaze me every day with their creations!
JW: If you had to pick just one favorite food to make over and over again, what would it be?
Carrie: Potato salad. OH MY WORD. I love it. It’s kind of a gross thing to be obsessed with but I am.
JW: What kind of camera do you use?
Carrie: I have an entry level dslr. The Nikon D3100. For anyone looking to get a start up camera it’s a great deal, and it can take some pretty amazing photos.
JW: Your food and photos are an inspiration to me - and I'm sure to many others - but who inspires you?
Carrie: I think it’s funny that my photos are good enough to inspire anyone hahaha. I’m truly winging my food photography! For inspiration I look to so many people. BUT if I had to pick just a couple …. The Pastry Affair. She is amazing! Her photos are totally drool worthy, and her recipes are to die for! Also Chasing Delicious, everything he posts is just gorgeous and mouth watering! I feel like so many food photo blogs have that “blown out” look. Everything is stark white. Both of these bloggers have a darker look to them. I love that and wish I had that kind of style!
JW: Based on your personal experiences, what three cookbooks would you recommend right now?
Carrie: Well my current fave is … Joy The Baker Cookbook: 100 Simple and Comforting Recipes. Also every kitchen NEEDS a copy of Mastering The Art Of French Cooking… you need to channel your inner Julia Child from time to time! 3rd. My very first cookbook. My mom bought it for me when I was 12. Better Homes and Garden New Cookbook. I think mine is from like 1994 or something… Great kitchen basics, for the beginner cook/baker.
JW: What advice or tips for success can you offer other bloggers?
Carrie: Be you. Don’t try to copy someone else’s style. Write how you talk, and about what you know. You will find your own following of people who like your blog for you!
JW: When you're not in the kitchen or working on a blog, where would I find you?
Carrie: In my house…changing diapers! Haha… seriously. That’s what I spend my days doing! Diapers, dishes, laundry… all things mommy and domestic!
